Just put in a 1.8l engine, find that new 6 speed tranny, and turbo the hell out of it. They make enough stuff for it. Cams, crank, pistons, and all that other great stuff. Dare to be different!

if a 2zz works then a k20 will work if you modify one mount. that what a lotus guy did here. he swapped a k20 into his elise and only had to change the one mount, and they even make a swap kit for it.

If you cram a 1zz engine in a Yaris, you might be able to find enough room left over to boost it, a 2zz there wont be anything left than just the mods that you can do to the engine directly (intake, exhaust, header, pulleys, cams, ecu, etc.) That wont add to the clutter in the engine bay. You will not have lots of space to be adding turbo manifolds, turbos, then piping. I am pretty certain you will need to relocate some pre existing items in the engine bay to make room for new stuff, I could be wrong.

As for the K20 thing, you already have to fab up custom mounts to fit a 2zz in a Yaris, let alone a K20 series...

I have an easier response to all this:

Why not buy another car, and why even get a Yaris to begin with!???

I just did a lot of research on the 2ZZ, and it is a freikin AWESOME engine. If you can get it to fit, they sell a completely redone and super powerful version for about $7,500. Now, that is a lot, but you can piece it together for less, and get an engine that weighs slightly more than the 1nz, and puts out over 200hp, and is SUPER quick in response and acceleration. Deffinately something I will be looking into.

One can utilize a remote-mount turbo system, won't even take up space in the engine bay.
