I'm pretty new to all this pic hosting and resizing stuff. I'll be honest... it's a miracle I was even able to get pics up haha. Engine swap.. cake walk. Posting pics.. it's been 3 hours on 2 devices just for what you see posted lol

Use your phone ;) but then the tradeoff is looking at a complete, little pic. I feel your pain tho with the huge ones viewed on a computer.

On my Samsung note5 there's very little scrolling. On my old Huawei mate 2 it's a lot of scrolling. I think it depends on your device how bad it is.

Yeah, for sure. Sometimes I use my phone, but then it's too small. I just can't be pleased.

Hell, miniscule inconvenience for all the excellent info you're providing. Love the new pics. I love the really meaty winter tires on the blue Yaris! Also, your axle/cradle 'restorations' are awesome. I once thought about removing my struts, degreasing, sandblasting (my neighbour a couple houses away has a sandblaster), priming and painting. I settled for spraying atf on them every few weeks. They look nice and black.

Yea the rear axle came out well considering I found it literally sitting in gravel. That's why I went with new bearings.

Cleaning and painting everything has literally taken 10-15 times longer than the swap would have if I just pulled and reinstalled the engines. But this is a build... Not just a swap.

Blucar is hopefully getting a 3-4" lift kit this week. A custom bolt-in idea I've been working on with inspiration from crashy, ctscotts plow/dump...car. If I get that working well, then there's plans for 215/75/15 A/T tires on some horribly offset rims lol. Gonna need to figure out some fender flares for that set up. But that's another build thread! Lol

Oooh...Yarisworld is getting more exciting all the time. Will be following the 'lift' thread, assuming you do one. You know, you'll be going against the tide, here. Everyone seems to want to get lower to the ground, not higher from the ground.

You may have seen it already, but I think some guy down south or in Australia (EDIT: from BC, Canada) lifted one and made it into a desert buggy. Really cool. I'll see if I can find the pic. May be one of the ones you mentioned already though.

Right. That looks high with just 1.5" lift. I can only imagine a 'mini monster truck' 3" - 4" lifted Yaris!

I'm not exactly sure how high blucar sits over stock height. But it is taller than stock. It went from being lowered on tein stechs right to xD springs so its hard to tell. The strut assemblies are the same height as the Yaris (uninstalled) but the springs them selves are much thicker. Keeps the car from squatting as much as the OEM Yaris springs. That's the only reason those tires fit lol

The ride is not bad. A little softer than the stechs but stiffer than stock. So its lifted and handles :)

Yep. Seen those. Totally got me wanting to make a road legal side by side but with heat hahah. Both my first Yaris and the blucar were lowered through winter. Not the most practical when 6" of snow is possible overnight. 26" in the Maritimes lol

Updates very soon!!
Im back wrenchin' again!!

I've installed the rear axle, rear disk brake setup, ebrake cables, and braided lines where available. All from a 2012 yaris SE.

So far everything has gone as planned and fits perfect except for the ebrake cables. Theres some bracketry issues.

A couple of these guys need to be removed from your old cables and swapped to the new ones. Not hard. Pry them off with a screwdriver and a pry bar and squeeze onto new cables

I just flattened this one to make it work

I certified the car today.

All parts on the rear axle are from the 2012 yaris SE model. Everything seems to work properly. The only issue I ran into was the e-brake cables. The cable mounts have to be removed from the existing drum brake cables and installed on the disk brake cables. Iirc, there's one mount on the disk brake cables that can just be bent to make work properly. The other 3 need to be removed from old cables and reinstalled on new cables.

So yea, the car is now plated and driving. Wow! I love the way it pulls! This engine should have been an option in North america!

All that's left to finish the build is a stereo. I have most of the components, just gotta get them installed. The a/c also needs to be refilled with refrigerant.

I didn't take many pics of the reassembly of the car. Its pretty basic stuff. One little surprise that wasn't mentioned in the first couple of posts I made for this thread is the full magnaflow mandrel bent 2&1/4" enhaust I installed with a new o2 sensor. If you plan in ordering this exhaust, make sure you get the one for the XD. The manifold flange is different size for the 1nz vs. The 2zr. The exhaust is otherwise the same and bolts right in. Even with the factory xd muffler and stock air box, it has a good sound.

I have brand new nitto neo tires in a 205/50/15 and it still breaks loose with no problem lol
