Question Heated Side View Mirrors and *How to install*

Googled, didn't come up with anything solid. Called the dealer and asked, they said they didn't have any. I asked about the '09 model if they would have a heated side view mirror option, he said hold on ... nope.

If I could find some I would just wire them in with the rear window defroster switch. Any suggestions, links, or ideas on how to get these things, if it is even possible?

*edit* not gonna lie, i forgot about this thread and didn't update it. i thought it disappeared with the "data loss"

I called the dealer some time... decemberish? maybe november? whatever, anyway, the guy in the parts department said that yes the '09 would have them and he could hook me up for a good price.

It may be possible to do this to the stock mirrors. I will have to get in there and loo but I might come up with some thing, that can be done rather cheap but works great. I also thing it has to be done on the back of the mirror so not to block the view from it. I will try my best to find a way.

Maby retro fitting something from a car that has heated side mirrors is a better way to go. Not sure but will check on this too.

I was looking at the electrical wiring diagrams last night for the 08 and 09 (doing a little side by side comparision). I noticed that in the 09 EWD's there is a diagram titled "Mirror Heater". The mirror heaters are turned on when the rear window defroster is turned on.

So, heated mirrors exist for the 09. I would keep checking with parts, as since they have an EWD, they are either an option or are standard on some models...

Ok just went to the Toyota Canada website and they indeed have heated mirrors as an option :
http://www.toyota.ca/cgi-bin/WebObje...?v124045e.html
Very interesting. In the US they are neither a standard nor option at this time. I just checked mine with a thermocouple to see if maybe they are an unadvertised part of the all weather package, but no such luck...

I went into my Dealership and the Parts Dept printed off the side mirror assembly parts list for the 2009 Yaris heated mirrors along with the prices (highway robbery). Now this was in Oct and there were none in North America so I will wait until the Spring and order them. Of course I can't find the printouts to give you the part numbers right now but I will get those mirrors retro-fitted and (if they fit) have wired into my Rear Defrost switch and we are a go. Mmmm...heated mirrors.

DIY heated Mirrors

Take a look at the Burco heating elements http://www.burcoinc.com/products/oth...di_heat_grids/
Also look at the DIY done on a FJ Cruiser http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...tallation.html

It can be done if you want to, I will be installing it on my 2009 LB

Hi

I have heated side view mirrors on my 2007 Toyota Yaris. Itīs standard on all Toyota Yaris, except the cheapest model, in Denmark.
If you want I can let you know a price, do you only want the mirror glass or the complete mirror?
They are hooked up with the rear window defroster.

Regards Steven.

heated mirrors

hello steven, I'm very interested in figuring out if I could put heated mirrors on my 08 hatchback. I'm not sure what I would need, but if you could give me prices on a few options I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much.

I am also very interested in getting heated side mirrors for my 2008 Yaris LE Hatchback. I live in Ontario, Canada. Getting tired of not being able to see with those mirrors in the cold winter months..

On the Yaris with them, they are simply connected in parallel with the rear window defroster.

So, you will run a pair of wires (18 AWG) through the door frame (through the rubber boot where the rest of the wires go). connect one end to the two wires on the heaters and the other end will go to a ground point (you can use the ground bolt that is right by where the wires go into the door frame) and to the black wire in pin 2 of connector 4F (in the under dash fuse panel).

The part number for 2012 mirror parts are :
87940-52b90 - mirror $229 each
87945-52120-j1 - cover $37.38 each
these are dealer prices. You will find these on line for about $60 cheaper per side.

Has anyone successfully added heated side mirrors to their Yaris? If so, can you share your experience?

I also found them with lots of different suffixes (i.e. A0, J1, D2, etc). Does anyone have a guess what the color codes are?
