About to turn 50k, any maintenance?

I was just wondering if there was any maintenance I need to do since it's turning 50k. I just did an oil change and replaced the tires so those should be good, maybe spark plugs or something along those lines?

Fugeaboutit. Literally, nothing but oil and oil filter changes until 100k. And don't let the dealer trick you into thinking something is due either.

Engine air filter, cabin air filter. Perhaps by next year around you should replace coolant at 4-year mark ($23 DIY, its easy). While not commonly mentioned much, after 3-4 years I would also replace brake fluid.

How long do you plan to keep the car anyway?

For a while, and thanks for the help. I still need to look and see if there actually is a cabin air filter. And another reason why I was asking about maintenance is the dummy light is flashing only at start up for about 20-30 seconds, then no light at all.

There probably isn't a cabin air filter as most of ours did not come with one. As for the light, it is definitely the maintenance light. It blinks on start up as you near 5000miles. Once it hits 5000 miles, the light will stay solid. This is every 5000 miles from when the light was last reset, not each 5000 miles on the odometer.

Ok thanks for the help, probably from the last time my girl got the oil changed. Did it myself because the guy put a sticker in the window, must have been set for 3000 not 5000. And if you are confused by that comment, I made this profile for my girl and she didn't take to it like I'd hoped and haven't found an admin to change it. So now I'm a guy stuck with this name till I do.

LOL...you're better off making a new profile since you have so few posts though there are mods around, the admin ( who have those powers) aren't around as often.

You sound like you know your way around forums, those would answer your current questions.

As for the light, it can't be .... manipulated and only counts up to 5,000 miles. You can reset it sooner or later but if left untouch, it will go to 5,000.

If you drive in stop and go traffic alot maybe you could change the brake pads? Or is that good for 100k also rningonfumes?

You have to inspect brakes to see if they require it. Some people stomp on their brakes every chance they get, others ride it like a pony at a fair, still others are conservative with them even in stop and go so it is dependent on the driver.

Batteries commonly only last 4 years, but some run them 6-8 years without problems...

Don't forget the outside. Wax it if you haven't already.

Well see the car is my girls car, been tweaking a little here and there. Just got a system back in it, and took off the ratty hubcaps cause she likes turning a little too quick. Unfortunately for the body I have to wait a couple more weeks since we live in Ohio and the weather changes more then her moods lol jk. I am looking at replacing the battery because for some reason no matter what I do there is corrosion on the negative terminal. I think I need to check the ground for rust.
