Scion XD

Anyone see this thing on Motorweek? Based on the Yaris! http://www.leftlanenews.com/2007/02/08/2008-scion-xd/

BTW - Read the comments at the bottom. Some of these people are saying that GM is better than Toyota/Scion... maybe It's just a sarcastic joke.

Not a very good looking car overall, designed like a van or an SUV, very American stylish desigin, only thing i like about it its got the 1.8L VVT-i that goes in the Yaris TS here in Europe.

Looks like fuel economy is a low priority on these new Scions. I sure won't be interested.

I am sorry but Scion xD = ugly as can be. There is something about how high the headlights are and how prominent the front bumper is that makes it look retarded and fugly. Yaris in either flavor looks much better although Toyota should be ashamed for not including the standard safety features like ABS and side-curtain airbags on all models. The side crash test test on the yaris without side-curtain airbags is pretty bad.

I'm not that impressed with th xD, but meh. I'm sure within a few months, if not already, there will be forums filled with people who love the new design and are so very glad they waited, rather than buying something "ugly, like the Yaris." Beauty is, so often, in the eye of the owner.

Driving Performance
The xD is powered by the lively 1.8 L four-cylinder engine with dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) that puts out 128 horsepower. Customers have the choice of a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission. This 2ZR-FE engine features a roller rocker system and light weight piston for better fuel economy and a piston cooling oil jet for better efficiency.

Looks almost like it but the front headlight housing looks a bit different along with the rear tail light housings. IMO this looks like what the xD should look like compared to what we've seen on the links from previous posts.
