Got some GT Radial from Steelcase Tires, 185/65/15 $89 each. Will report how it handles when the snow comes along!

yeah That was from that blizzard that tore through Fort Erie Canada and Buffalo NY Thursday Oct 12'th The pics were taken FRIDAY THE 13TH go figure. I was supposed to head out on the motorcycle to the friday the 13th biker bash at Port dover Ontario. But got snow in instead and was without power for 5days BTW who makes the GT tires and where did you get them for that price? Do you have any leads on stock size all season tires for a good price? I blew a tire Last thursday during that freek storm (must of ran over something) and tore the side wall out of the front tire (bridgestone Potenza) the cheapest one I have found was $160 each. I have a goodyear on ther now with a bout 50% tread left (put it on the back)

I have MICHELIN X-ICE on the Echo... they are acting like hell on snow and ice, but... they are expensive as hell! But, this the 3rd winter (I do around 17,000 KM during winter) with the Michelins and I've only a 40% thread wear!

yeah, Michelin are durable, but not too good in traction as they tend to make the tires harder so it last longer, but in winter you need the tire to be soft.

yeah, the tires I got are 185/65/15, no 185/60/15 too. But since 185/60 and 185/65 doesn't create much of a difference, so I just go with 185/65. |

My choice for winter tire
Hi,
I put 4 Gislaved NorthFrost 5 on my Yaris. they cost 540$ I'm using the 14 inch steel wheel. Those have been perfect for our winter. I did 7 000km on it and they dont buzz at all. I will be buying 4 others for my gf's Fit next winter. Now i'm looking to get some summer tire.... I haven't choose yet. I might go with Toyo Torevo but i'm still looking. |

Sailun IceBlazer WST1 (on stock 15" RS alloys). No major complaints for the ridiculously low price. Very decent treadwear for a soft tire and good grip on both ice and snow.
Not usually a fan of such "no names" but did not want to blow my wad on some X-Ices or Blizzaks for the 3 or 4 months I keep them on in Vancouver's rain. |

4 Blizzak WS 70s on 2010 3 door at 36 p.s.i. and 4 non studded COOPER Weather Master ST-2s at 36 p.s.i. on the '08 sedan . The new Blizzaks are great .

4 Continental Extreme Winter Contact 15". I run them at 45 psi (the sidewall max is 55 psi). This was my 2nd winter on them and they are an big improvement over the 15" Goodyear Eagle all seasons that came on the car.

Stock Yaris tires get good mpg, but are worthless on ice and snow. With new Toyota 15"X6" alloy wheels, I'm running Kumho Solus KR21 M&S tires...nice! I installed General Altimax Arctic snow tires on the old steelies. When it snows in beautiful downtown Bumpass, I install the SNOW tires and blast through the snow. Tire Rack has been right on with my tires.

winter tires should be used when the temperature is consistently below 8C

For Americans, 8℃ is 46.4℉.
