Exclamation Techstream 10.00.028 DIY customize settings (PROBABLY ILLEGAL; PROCEED WITH CAUTION)

I've had a Mini VCI cable and just got it updated to version 10 (10.00.028)

First things first: I have no affiliation with the suppliers of this product nor is this review a guarantee of future performance, this is simply an account of my personal experience. Do not change settings where you do not know the outcome, this can cause irreparable damage to your vehicle. I do not condone use of this product.

Now that we got that out of the way, on to the review...

System Req's and Use: A PC that runs in Windows XP mode and USB in order to use Techstream, otherwise software will not work. Once loaded I had access to check OBDII and make programming changes.

Ordering: Ordered Mini VCI Cable thru OBDII365 website, payment made thru paypal. For $24.99 USD the order included 1x 6ft Mini VCI Cable, 1 mini-disc (preloaded with MVCI Firmware and Techstream 9.00.025 Software) and shipping. Vendor sent an email when order Received, Processed and Shipped.

MINI VCI cable and disk

following are some ticks that Techsream cable enabled me so far

Click TIS and come to the system selection menu. The program enabled me to check the communication between MINI VCI cable, vehicle and computer.

display some ECU setting including Wireless door lock, Security and other items that can be customized.

–turn off the wireless autolock
–Change the annoying buzzer which is the alarm chirp to 7
–turn off the open door warming

–Turn off the annoying passenger side seatbelt warning
–Turn off the tail remind buzzer

–Adjusted the air conditioner ambient temperature

Illuminated Entry
– Turn off I/L when ACC off
– Turn off I/L on W/Door key unlock
– Turn off interior light control

Light control
– Turn off the DRL’s

Utility
–View some TPMS and ABS values

As an FYI, you are publicly advertising pirated software (ripped off from Toyota) and pirated hardware (ripped of from Drew Technologies).

I am not sure about this forum, but most do not allow (for liability reasons) touting pirated hardware and software.

The Toyota TechStream is a very helpful tool, but pirating the software from Toyota and buying Chinese clones of Drew Technologies' is a highly unethical (if not illegal) way of taking advantage of it.

I'm letting this slide, since the OP is clearly stating that he is not affiliated with the seller and he is just sharing seemingly valid information with a fair warning to go with it.

We shouldn't condone piracy, but we should also try to protect the free flow of information above everything else (within reason, of course).

I have added an extra warning on the title. I think this should be enough for the time being.

@CTScott: We are neither selling nor encouraging anyone to use the item in question, and so AFAIK have no need to worry about liability issues. We are all consenting adults here.

@Everyone: I'm always open to discussion on mod decisions, so please PM me your thoughts.

Does this only allow for small things to be adjusted (ie: light control etc) or can this also allow you to adjust afr's and timing etc?

Someone resurrects a 1 yr old post, and suddenly it gets some action

I'm surprised OP's original product link still works.
