Auto-Meter Silver Sport Comp Mini Tach

I couldn't take it anymore. Officially it took 8 months before I needed a tach. I was seriously about to snap.

I happen to live 15 minutes from the world's largest automotive aftermarket superstore, so I headed down there today to correct my problem and left with this.

It is a small, 2 5/8" brushed aluminum tach with a nice mounting bracket. Best of all, it was extremely reasonably priced... 90 bucks, and still has that unmistakable AM quality. Its heavy and sturdy feeling. You can change the color of the lighting with a simple swap of the condom over the light. It comes as white, but I'll be going blue. It will be mounted on the dash right in my line of sight. This is the first of 5 gauges I plan on purchasing, and the only one that won't sit on the A pillar.

I like this particular piece because it isn't 5" and doesn't have a shift light. If you have the tach I just described in a Yaris, please go kill yourself.

I'll install sometime this week. If you guys want a DIY just say so.

Cool, hard to find a small, discreet tach indeed, and very much worth its price.

DIY won't be necessary, I believe there already is one in the DIY manual

I would like to see some pics. I've killed my Yaris like 10 times since I got it last week due to the drive by wire not being as responsive as my old Honda normal throttle. A tach would be nice to know when I am actually giving it gas. I usually have my tunes turned up too loud to hear the motor.

That is another thing... especially when it has snowed heavily out here, I can't listen to music because I'm so busy listening to my engine. How lame is that? I'm just glad I won't have to worry about it anymore.

I was thinking of maybe getting one and integrating it into the drivers side glove box. Maybe even go as far as putting it inside the glove box and adding a small cut out to the lid and putting some lexan over the cutout.

I'm going to make a gauge pod and mount it to the glove box, I might even try my hand at making a whole new new door so I don't have to cut up the stock glove box door.

Man, its the big things like having a slushbox that make me not get an automatic. However, whenever I'm in stop and go traffic or in a traffic jam I yearn for an auto.
