From what I have read on one of the sellers website, "This shifter kit may not fit some 2008-09 models."
So how do I know if it will or will not fit before making a purchase?

Just ordered my kit today. Can't wait to see if this lives up to all the hype! Cable bushings and engine compartment kit.

I took my NST SSK and bushing set out today, since I'm having a dealer replace my clutch (under warranty) and didn't want them to lose or screw the parts up (I'm paranoid like that). It's the first time in a year that I've driving the car w/o the kit and what a difference it makes! I can't wait to put it back on!

Believe me I know! I've got my Civic setup for the track and it shifts SO close and smooth compared to the Yaris. Between the civic and my 6-speed XRS the yaris just *HAD* to get something!

I have seen that some folks simply file down the SSK in the engine bay to make it work in certain 09 models. I will note that I left mine in there unmodified for a bit and it put the cable on such a bind that shifting suffered miserably. If I removed the cable from the SSK entirely and move it in and out through the path of the existing post it was very free, however if I moved it UP and OVER where it was while I had the SSK mounted there was a noticeable bind. Because I didn't want to file down my SSK part I opted to take the dremel to the arm that it goes on. It didn't take more than 10-20 seconds to get enough filed off for the SSK to fit on over the arm. Once the SSK sat down all the way like it was supposed to the shifting was smooth and without any binding again. Hope this helps someone who does not want to modify the part, or has experienced the binding I did. You may also try to bend the cable slightly to help alleviate the severity of the angle. Good job NST, really pleased with the part.

W00t! Just got my red one today for astrogirl's '09. What's interesting is I won't have to modify hers, it's already been machined with the modification.

Will this fit my MY10 Yaris? I'm not too good at modifying parts...

Since I have had NO help on this. I will let you know once I get mine and try to install it. Please find your shift linkage on your car where the SSK will go and compare it to my pics.

Thumbs down

Hey Yota, did you get the SSK09 shift kit part for your Yaris? I ask because I ordered mine on the 16th of August, along with some bushings, and the shifter (in car) piece, and when I got my order the underhood one was back ordered.
That was unexpected, since the website said it was "IN STOCK"... and still does! Then, I get no satisfactory answer for when the back order will be filled.
The worst part is, NST accepted my payment without telling me it was back ordered, until the order showed up without the ordered part and a hand written "back order" on the invoice.
Jeez, had I known it wasn't in stock, I would have ordered the part elsewhere. Anyone else have this problem with NST???
