yaris for long storage

hello. i'm not sure if this is the right topic site.
i will be travelling for at least 4 weeks. i will keep my yaris (automatic transmission) in the garage.
should i remove the positive terminal of the battery? will the computer box or air bag be affected? any suggestion?anything to do/avoid? thanks

4 weeks is a relatively short amount of time. You should remove the positive terminal to save on battery life, and you will lose your favorite radio stations by doing so, but otherwise you will be fine.

None whatsoever. The ECU will have to relearn a couple of things, but that only takes a couple of long drives.

OR you could consider getting a trickle charger for it. Will maintain the charge in your battery. They are inexpensive & will do the trick.

Let my car sit for 6 weeks in Phoenix last summer. The battery was never the same again.

pick up a battery tender junior from amazon. i think they are $20 or so. Wouldnt hurt to also put some fuel stabilizer in it and drive the car for a bit so the injectors do not get dirty. Probably unnecessary for just 4 weeks though.

harbour frieight has them for less than $10! Ive had one for years and it works great.

This means that the car will idle very low and run rough as hell for a bit. Don't be alarmed, it will rectify itself.

I through the years have parked my sedan for what you would consider really long periods of time. (addressed to OP). Case in point was when I was in Afghanistan for a year. Unfortunately the gent that allowed me to store the car was the one that placed it in the building it was in so I had no control over him not disconnecting the battery as asked. I did end up having to purchase a new battery. Not sure if Scott will chime in here however I believe the ECU has a 500mA draw when parked so it will indeed slowly and painfully destroy your battery life. Weather will be a big factor as well. of course the the colder or the hotter then the larger the impact on the battery. This is the long winded way of confirming as others have...the investment in a battery tender is the way to go. Cheap and saves in the long haul. This is of course dependent upon where the car is parked as well. If you live in an apartment complex or have the car in a parkign garage, etc getting power to the charger will be tough or nonexistent right? Doing a disco on the battery would be a good choice, but if it were me I would also brig the battery into shelter and set it up on something...not on a floor where there could be elements in the construction that could cause the battery to drain...example concrete. In this case you could then now place the batter on that tender because you would be close to a power source I would think.
