Multimode gearbox and flickering headlights - Toyota Yaris Forums

Recently bought a 2011 Yaris with the MMT gearbox. Gear changes seem to cause fairly subtle headlight and interior lights flickering. It's barely noticeable in daylight but annoying at night time. Tapping gas pedal while stationary seems to cause similar flickering, but not when gearbox is on neutral. Occasionally radio loses sound for a fraction of a second, but cannot be sure this is related or caused by bad signal or some such.

Is this to be expected? Does the electrical clutch really draw that much power, or could it be shorting? Couldn't find anyone else with similar issues.

A part from the flicker, the car is working fine and gear changes are "smooth". Car has only about 26k miles on it.

Dealer replaced the battery, but that didn't help. Alternator is next on line and they said they'd check the power draw too but were not very hopeful in finding the issue. "Not much we can do about it" seemed to be the attitude.
