You guys think this is fixable?

So I finally bought some new tires, take the Yaris to the shop a couple blocks away from work and have the tires put on. Go back to pick the car up and that's staring at me. I don't know what in the world they did to do that, but it's certainly noticeable. I'm going to meet with the guy in the morning to see if he'll pay for it. If he doesn't, does this look fixable or am I just going to have to scrap this fender?

I'm no body shop worker, but I think that's fixable, but will be hard since it's on a curved section. At least it isn't on a crease like on the door.

However, I'd raise hell at that shop until they agreed on paying for the repairs.

wtf! i would've raised hell.. no way i'd leave the shop with my car, knowing it came there without that, shops liable for damage done to your vehicle.

First and foremost, get the shop to take ownership of the damages.

if it were my car and that was just there, I would take the inner fender liner out and just try to push it out with my hands (gently) as it looks like the paint isn't cracked or anything. it may not all come out using that method but it would be better.

Yeah the shop is refusing to fix it. They're claiming it must have happened while it was parked outside, and that they aren't liable for any damage while the car is sitting in the parking lot.

I guess I'll get a quote from a body shop on getting it fixed. I've got other dings and a huge 3' or so scratch where some inconsiderate twat at my apartment complex drug her purse along the side that need to be fixed anyway :/ Just sucks to have to throw money at something stupid like this.

Yeah, most every auto place around here has signs up saying they aren't liable for damage done in the parking lot. All the auto places are downtown, so in a city with 27% poverty downtown is just a huge crap hole.

Yeah they own the parking lot. I have a few lawyer friends, so I'm exploring my options :/

Explore options. At least you didn't use the wal-mart tire shop, those horror stories make the news!

Nope, no cameras. I'm pretty sure mechanic shops around here purposely avoid putting cameras anywhere...

I'm getting sent out of town for work, but hopefully I can get that quote sometime soon.

yes it's fixable. the fender is a single sided part, you can remove it then fix it.

if Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) can fix it cheaper than normal repair, i'd rather that.

if they're refusing to pay for something bad that happened within their property, then take legal action if it's less expensive than having it fixed.
