There is no cable controlling the throttle. Throttle is electronically controlled.

What is it doing when you try to start?

Had you disconnected anything?

Thumbs up

Thanks Wee.... if ya see there later i added to the comment that I figured that out, just weird that as soon as I put it all back together it fired up and ran perfectly.....after smelling like rotten eggs for a few seconds....but IM STILL CURIOUS ABOUT THE THOUGHTS ON if its ok to run all that crap through the engine.....hopefully it just burned up quick and thats what I was smelling from the exhaust.....its been two days and lots of driving now and everything seems fine.
Thanks Everyone!

Yes,clean the MAF sensor. ALSO,some of you are experiencing the result of Ethanol / Methanol fuel(s)......isn't the clown that dreamed those two up a great piece of work. Folks on motorcycles are experiencing this same thing and engine issues.

Yup, I have tested E10 and either I got a bad batch or it generally performs that bad...
The standard E5 here performs better (there's virtually no way to get gas with less ethanol here, so I could not try this).

May be my problem

My 2010 has only 22,000 miles. I drove it to Pittsburgh for Christmas over the same roads as last years Christmas trip. Last year I got 38 mpg. This year 33. I am taking it to the dealer for an oil change & checkup in a couple weeks, but think I'll try that MAF cleaner first.

My records for other vehicles show e10 gets 10% lower mpg than 100% gas. Hoping congress eliminates the ethanol mandate.

I do too. However, I've heard they won't and may even change the requirements so that older cars can't run on it....motivation being to get the older cars off the road because they don't have EDRs or an equivalent (but I heard this from a person I'd almost classify as a 'prepper'. He also doesn't know a great deal about vehicles ).

I put my car into 5th at 40mph as long as I'm on a flat road. The instant mpg reads 60-70mpg, i never bog the engine but, always have in it the highest gear possible. my winter average so far has been 41mpg using no ethanol gas.

How about a DIY for cleaning MAF and punching holes? :)

I don't know whether this can be applied to the 4 cyl engine (I have the 1kr-fe, remember...), but mine runs fine in 5th gear from 18MPH on
Does not save much, probably it compensates for my late shifting in order to get an acceptable acceleration^^
I blame some of my 39MPG on the winter tires - last summer, I got almost 50mpg on a flat highway^^
