Next generation?
Does anyone have any good rumours on the next generation. Here in Canada the 2017s are getting a few safety features but little else. Assume this is in anticipation of a major update as part of Toyota's planning cycle which puts the major redesign in 2018 (not if this in the 2018 calendar year or the 2018 model year i.e. introduced about a year from now).
I am considering replacing my 2006 that is getting a bit tired but don't want to buy the current model as it is at the end of its cycle or very close to it. Also considering a used 2012/13 as an interim measure. |

The new sedan is a Mazda 2, but the HB is staying Toyota. Up to you...
To me, the last year of a certain model is the best because all of the bugs have been worked out and it usually comes with the most options. |

Motortrend is reporting the 2017 Yaris is unchanged.

I'm happy to hear it's back for 2017... and it's a real Toyota. I just wish that hideous front bumper/grille work had been redesigned.

Looking down that Motortrend list, all the Toyotas have exaggerated grille work.

Snippet of information
Seems like Toyota is keeping any information on the next generation (2018 or 2019 model year) close to their chest.
However I did find this bit of information (see Yaris comment in the B segment ) even has a model code 865A, something to anticipate. http://www.just-auto.com/analysis/to..._id171375.aspx |

Looks like Toyota is keeping tight reign on any info on the Yaris HB replacement. That is anything beyond the 2017 model which is simply "steady as she goes" approach. Outside of forums such as this one there is not likely a lot of interest in a Yaris replacement as opposed to the (tongue in cheek) latest, for example, Lambo which will have total production run of less than 500.
In any case found an August 24th reference on just-auto.com which states "Now we come to a model which has traditionally been mainly for Europe, the Yaris. In Japan it's the Vitz and in North America, from the 2017 model year onwards, the sedan is the Yaris iA - formerly it was the Scion iA. The next generation model (model code: 865A) will be out in a few months' time.Build should be at the same locations as the current generation - i.e. France, Thailand, Japan and China. The car will use the B segment version of TNGA. Production will last until 2023." So maybe some spy shots by Xmas -at least one can hope. |
