looking at a 2009 yaris- need pricing help

found a nice 09 4dr yaris sedan base model? 99,100 miles -auto, pw, cd ,cruise, fog lights, hubcaps-no spoiler or sunroof,
shows accident lr 2011 nothng major -current owner bought 2015 at 90,250 miles.
clean car- no pets no smoking -

owner asked 5800, 5400,4800, now down to 4300 - looks like owner moving and really wants car gone ---***** what would you ask bottom line ? *****

no im not going to offer 1500 but a fair price- i was thinking 3750 maybe less --what ya think ???

unless it has records i planned to change plugs, oil and coolant, possible water pump if it looks due and maybe fresh tires, battery as it will need to be 100% and good for long occasional drives

I would offer that $3750 if the car hasnt been in an accident.

Should be a good car....

Does it have new tires or old ones that you'll need to replace soon ?

Personally i wouldn't pay a dime over 4000 if the tires are old.
So yeah you should talk him down from 4.300

got a quick look at it yesterday did not let the owner know i was coming since i did not want to waste her time without cash ready to buy -i did not look under hood or drive - heres what i found
3 owners, needs 2 tires, headlights hazy, wiper blades, some bumper scratches but nothing major, mirror caps faded,
i figure a new battery ,plugs, oil change and all filters for my own piece of mind .

clean interior , has the long radio thats part of the panel vs some ive seen with the toyota double din style that could be replaced if it were to go bad

FWIW, we only hear about the bad water pumps on here, never the ones that have not failed. For every member with a failure, there are dozens without one. My 2006 with over 300,000 kms is still on its original leak free, silently running water pump. IMO, that vehicle is now sitting at a very reasonable price.

Sounds like it's in average condition, plus one reported accident.

Trade-in value about $2500 (if you're darn lucky, but probably more like $1500).

Retail P/P value about $3500... and that's all I would pay for it.

Non-accident reported examples of similar cars start around $4,200 on CarGurus.com, so I would agree that $3,500-$4,000 sounds good if you like the car.

I'd offer $3500. I typically drive a potential car up on ramps to check for oil leaks. if you find an easy to fix axle seal leak then it's easy to talk them down another couple hundred.

Like stated above, IMO the car is priced good for what you're going to get out of it.

You won't find another eco car with this mileage and year that is going to be more reliable than the yaris. if you're tight on money then you'll have to settle for a not perfect condition one like this (if they even exist).

Water pumps are cheap and if they had signs of wear it was well under 80k miles typically
