Rear mail oil seal replacement

First, please dont use my milage for referance. Because my car sees regular autocross action and track time, my 178,000miles is not the same as a daily driven only 178,000miles.

After autocross one weekend I noticed a drip of oil under my car, I jacked it up and saw this...

I don't recall where this is.

Mine had a leak around the timing chain cover. Redid the silicone seal, and replaced head gasket whole this was open.

Edit: here is my leak..

May want to check your PCV system before yanking the trans out. Pressure build up will usually push past the rear main, or front crank seals. Get rid of the pressure, and the leak may stop. Also, depending on how bagged your engine is, you may be getting too much blow-by for the stock PCV system to handle. May want to do a compression check. And finally, any oil leaks above the bellhousing tend to go in and drip out like that. Have a close look to make sure it's actually coming from inside the bellhousing.

Cheers.

I check my compression regularly, and I have a catch can. There are no other leaks and this leak gets worst when you drive the car vs idling, a indicator of a RMS leak.

OK. Looks like you got it well in hand. That seal is definitely not happy. I'm doing a clutch tomorrow on mine but I don't think the RMS will be needed. Same sort of life, but much less mileage.
Cheers.
