Angry rear ended pics to come

i was on the way to work this morning and some fuker decides to bail out of the carpool lane into slowing traffic. as soon as i come to a complete stop to avoid his ass, i find myself being thrown forward from a rear end collision. the 4 runner behind me decided that i needed new "speed holes" in my back bumper. you know to improve the aerodyamics of the already nimble car.

good dude tho. exhanged contact info and insurance. wanted to forego the insurance and pay for it himself.

from the looks of it, i know i need to get the rear checked out and replaced, have the rear bumper support/brace checked/replaced, and the trunk wont close properly without more than usual force.

what should i do?

insurance and jack his rates or be ok with it and have him pay for new "upgrades"

tell him that you don't need new "speed holes" in your back bumper

It's still not the worst news I've heard regarding Yaris wrecks on here. Hope things work out

Well having him pay is all fine and good until he up and dissapears or says it never happened. He prolly won't do that but if he does you're screwed. Good luck on getting it fixed though.

Contact his insurance regardless of his claims to pay you. You guys are not best friends so I wouldn't put it past him if he skips on you.

Well, you're already screwed, since you left the scene of an accident causing more than 500(or is it 750) dollars in damage, and you didn't contact the police or insurance. Provided the dude didn't give you fake information, and actually pays it, you still need to take it to a mechanic and get the entire frame, motor mounts, suspension, and everything in the car checked out. There's a pretty good chance there is more than just cosmetic damage.

I'd call the insurance company soon. You might be out of luck already, but the longer you wait the worse its gonna be.

Yup - at least notify insurance of the accident. I wouldn't risk my car repair on a strangers promise.

I'd turn in the claim and then let him pay it. IF the company doesn't get a bill they won't hold it against him as much. If he has a change of heart he can't get away with it.

In any case file an accident report - they don't obligate you to file a claim but it will cover your tail in case the lad decides "What accident?".

Whenever anyone rear-ends me (3 times in the past 10 years), I get the license number and call police before I even speak to the driver. Even if the driver says he'll just pay it, I tell him to sit his @ss in park or I'll report him for leaving the scene of an accident which is a felony in Oklahoma.
When I was 16 and hit by another driver, due to me being naive, I accepted the fact he would pay me for the damage so we didn't have to go through insurance. Well, "dude" never paid up.

supmet, this information you are providing is inaccurate. The police usually refuse to come to a scene to file a report unless there is serious bodily injury to a person. dmv form SR1(which can be printed from the dmv website) must be filled out in order to advise the dmv you have valid insurance for the time of the accident.

fury.. good luck in your claim.. what insurance company does he have btw? I work in claims department for AAA, so i know a little about a few of the insurance companies... any questions, hit me up

Thanks all! I lol'd at the dimples comment.

he's got AAA.

I tried to call in a report to the 5-0 but they didn't feel the need to help a brotha out. And said to go ahead with the Insurance. I've gotta call the autobody peeps to see what they and the insurance guy came up with so I can give the guy a number and see want he does from there.
