Drilling into the floor
Cause it is fun.
No. Because I want to install one of these. http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Tablet-S...1396398&sr=8-1 The 07 Yaris seat bolt bracket does not sit flush to the floor allowing for the simple install. It looks like I'll need to drill the alternate bracket into the floor. Is there a spot near the front seat that I can drill into or a spot NOT to drill. I'd hate to find the gas line. I was thinking of drilling into the raised spot on the floor that the seat is already bolted to - somewhere between the seat bolt next to the center console and the VIN under the carpet. Thanks! |

It looks like one of those brackets is meant to go under a seat bolt. Why can't you do that?

You do not want to drill. Onc you break the surface of the metal (on any part of the car) it WILL rust unless you know how to treat it properly.

The raised area that the front of the passenger seat bolts to is a perfect place to drill. It is a U shaped piece that is welded above the floor, so you will not be drilling to daylight. The only thing that runs through it is the plastic rear AC duct.

re: why not put the bracket under the bolt?
No room. The seat bracket is shaped like a cup on the Yaris. The bracket does not fit right. I also found a screw under the passenger side dash that looks to hold a fan motor. It screws into plastic and I can't get it tight enough. I think I'm going to take the advice of the guy that turned his Yaris into a plow. THANKS EVERYONE. |

Well, so far. I have broken a drill bit and twisted apart two screws going through that steel.
Stick around for updates. |

unless you are building the yaris into a police cruiser, why do you need a tablet in the car?

So, I can see my MP3 player.
So, I can use GPS. ANGRY BIRDS - Duh! Same reason someone would put a slot car track in the hatch. Because we can. Anyway, it worked and I don't smell gas or see the road. Thanks guys. |

Bolts and Washers?
Why not get a longer bolt for the seat and then use some metal washers so you can attach your tablet mount?
I'm not sure if that would cause a safety problem with the seat though, anyone know for sure on that? Maybe use really strong steel washers? Personally I would just shell out the cash for a ProClips or similar mount that fits and holds to the groves of the dash trim. |

Maybe the name fits. It probably fits all of us.
But really - relax folks. Ever hear of an MP3 player or GPS? My tab does both and now the tablet sits right next to my radio controls. Besides, I can't play Angry Birds while driving. I'm too busy with that slot car track and trying to stay on the road. You try racing a slot car by looking only in the rear view mirror with one eye. |

Yes, pics please. I'd like to get the same mount. How does it perform? Does it bounce a lot, or is it pretty stationary?
