Mine aren't heated. I don't recall seeing that in the options for the US models.

The Yaris is a bottom line economy car. It doesn't have lots of things that are standard on other cars, which are also way more expensive. That's fine with me. I don't need heated seats to warm my buns, lights that stay on for a minute after I get out of the car, synthesized voices talking to me...

The only thing I do miss from more "luxurious" cars is the dashboard display of things like outside air temperature, instantaneous and average mileage, and miles till empty. Wouldn't need to buy a tacky gauge and stick it on the dash.

good one, but the 2007 model has the outside tempreture for sure.

the only query about the heated mirros is that i had them on my old seat ibiza 1995 so i was thinking 2009 may be standard now

To me, heated mirrors are not a luxery item in many parts of the country where it snows. They are a safety related just like a rear or front defroster.

They should be part of the "all weather packag" IMO. Every car should have this option IMO.

While it's true that the Yaris is a "bottom line economy car" this should not mean that safety is compromised.

in Malta we don't need them that much but when the humidity is too high and the mirors are wet with humidity i can't see a thing.

Heated mirrors are documented in the EWDs, so they are definitely available somewhere. My bet is that they are one of those options that never makes it out of Japan.

There was one a time when heaters and windshield defrosters were not standard. That was a genuine safety hazzard for those driving in the winter and are now mandated by law

There was even a time when there was no such thing as windshield wipers.

Just becaue you make do without something doesn't mean it's safe.

Why heated mirrors? Because it is not safe to get in your car in the dead of winter at 1:00 am with ice encrusted mirriors and get on the interstate as I often do.
Why not scrape them? Mirror glass is often comparitively soft and easily scratched. it is easier said than done anyway.

In NY, evey new car sold must have some sort of rear window defroster. Heated mirrors should also be mandated by law.
This is real simple technology and only needs a few feet of wire, a switch and mirror glass with the wire eliments in it.

im sorry but heated mirrors and defrosters just contribute to people becoming lazier and lazier. i routinely see people with a tiny hole in their windshield in the winter mornings cause they just couldn't be bothered to scrape the stuff off.
The best is when it snows 20+cm overnight and then you see giant marshmallows with tiny window holes driving on the highway. Like you couldn't be bothered to take 4 mins and wipe it off?

Heated mirrors are pretty moot however - in all the time I've lived in Northern Ontario I don't think my mirrors have ever gotten full of ice except in the odd ice storm ... even then what PK said, just take some -40 rated windsheild fluid and pour it on and scrape off.

So, you would do away with windshield defrosters also as they are only for lazy people?

Hey, I once knew a guy who said he didn't need windshield wipers simpley because his were broken and he had a bottle of "Rain-X"
A pure case of sour grapes.

Yeah, it's rather sad that some find them useless.

Useless is what many said about seatbelts at one time.

You peple are now grasping for straws to bolster a a flawed point of view.

Using that failed logic a rear sway bay is only for bad drivers as is a rear view mirror.

I'm out of this thread. .
