Brake Light Bulb Replace

How hard can it be?
Any tips? Because it looks ridiculously stupidly hard. Really Toyota really.

What year do you have? It's super easy on the hatchback.

If it's like a 2007 hatch, you do want to read long recent thread(s) on this. It is not super easy to do it the first time from inside the car-- the way the owner's manual shows.

Sorry guys. It's an 08 hatch back.

I think this is what I'm going to do.
-Remove the cut out vent.
-Reach in and twist the socket and pull it out???

Yeah, pop off the plastic cover to gain access. I replaced the factory taillights with some RS reps, so it's the more conventional 7440 bulb for the turn signals and has LED brake lights. iirc, the factory taillight uses 1156 bulbs and the turn signal and brake lights were on one bracket. It's been a while, but in any case, I did not have to struggle with anything. However, if you have really large hands, I'd suggest wearing some working gloves so you don't get scratched up by the plastic trim.

On my 2007 hatchback, that much wasn't too hard, but the weird path of the pigtail makes it very short. (how hard does one like to yank on wiring?) And the huge bayonet-base double-filament bulb does not want to leave the socket.
