If you shorten the piping, you will need to move the rubber mounting points the same amout. If you have fab skills and know how to weld, its a 15minute job. Thats why Im considering purchasing this system, and making it fit how I want it.

SOUND CLIPS NEEDED!
Why waste the time.. Buy the muffler you want and have an exhaust shop do it up. It shouldn't be more than $200 and take about an hour.

Personally, I like the placement of the stock muffler and tip. Mabye it is because the bumper is so short, but every axleback seems to "stick out" too much for my taste.

I'm toying with the idea of getting a custom axleback done. I'd use a normal oval style magnaflow and tuck it up under the bumper then put a turn down on it, and paint it all black. I see alot of stock Jettas and Golfs with an exhaust like that. Then you wouldn't be able to see anything at all hanging under the bumper.

Maybe you have a really nice shop around. None of my local muffler shops deal with mandrel bent pipe. Its all crush bent. I say why do it if your not gonna do it right.

The top of the very end of the tip, should be just about even with bumper... IMO.
I agree - first thing i thought was that it looks too far out, like someone just had a universal muffler welded up. I'm not a fan of cans though, waiting for Some type of Apexi WS2 to come out.

HP gains on things like exhaust and all are very minimal at best. you usually do it for sound and looks. going with lighter weight wheel set up and trying to loose a bit more weight on the car or yourself will give you a bigger gain than full exhaust and intake would I figure.

then again cars like these are meant to be fun and economy. I going pretty much for something I like the look of and handelilng. If I do performance I will either turbo it or do direct port N2O

Also as for crush vs mandrel bends won't make a differnce on these cars anyways. I agree with the idea of finding a muffler you like and having a shope put it on for you.

There's a difference between the two though, mandrel is better!

I believe he knows that, but was trying to state that on this car, a simple muffler swap with either bend would be hard to tell any difference by the butt dyno.
