I've looked at pics. of their step-down model that has only the temperature and compass and the base is the same size as the K31's. I'll give the CIPA a try. I think I like the compass and temp. display at the bottom instead of taking up some of the mirror like in the Gentex. The map lights on the CIPA are user replaceable and on the Gentex they aren't. Also, the CIPA mirrors use a liquid-less "solid polymer matrix" for the dimming technology while Gentex still uses liquid / gel based dimming technology.

My back windows are tinted at 5% so my auto dimming mirror never gets to come out and play because hardly any headlight beams gets through!

It also has the homelink feature which I used all the time to open my garage door and plus it was FREE!
