sleey0 sorry I can't comment since I don't have a dedicated sub amp.

I use a 10" bazooka with a built-in 100watt (peak at best) and has L & R low level RCA inputs. I took the headunit's RL RR low level outputs as the signal going to the bazooka and I'm getting good bass. (see the wiring diagram below)

I believe KAC has a similar setup (bazooka sub?) as well.

Will this work with the factory aux in unit that comes with the yaris? Like the one shown in this thread http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17841

I know that those RCA's go to an amp, but there was some concern over not having a dedicated sub line out.

That's all.

Hey there,

How did people manage to install the radio antenna? There wasn't a separate harness for it..

You don't need a seperate or special harness to hook up the radio antenna. Just use the existing Yaris antenna connector and plug it to the back of the HU as per diagram:

Ordered one today

I ordered one of these today, found it on ebay with a "Buy Now" of $499 with free shipping.

I used the "make an offer", and offered $425. Few minutes later they accepted my offer.

I will report how things progress.

I have that sucker bookmarked, and am seriously thinking about getting it. I was wondering what kind of wattage the head unit has on its own? I'm not interested in amps or swapping out speakers, but the sound has to be at least as good as the CD/MP3 player in the car right now (stock?).

I don't have an amp but i did replace the spkrs before I upgraded the HU. The new HU drove the new speakers more efficiently than the OEM radio in my opinion, my guess is the higher wattage. I'm not sure exactly how much it puts out (RMS) but specs claim 4 x 45 Watts likely at peak.

Cool. My HU is running smoothly and still enjoying its features. Very happy with the sound and have not touched my system ever since, quite content.

Please give us a quick update once you get it up and running.

Thanks Toy for the info about the power. Now I suppose I'll get one too. I was looking on Crutchfield at an Alpine for over $1,100.00. This one is WAY cheaper and looks like a better fit too.

Yeah, definitely for that $1,100 price tag which ever Alpine you were looking at is very likely far more superior than this 2-din HU...

This might not even compare nor qualify as poor man's equivalent to the Alpine you were checking out :)

I'd much rather have this than the "$1100" alpine.

I prefer the OEM fit and look, FWIW.

That's what I was thinking, sleey0. I really like that OEM look, and no matter which other units I have looked at, the one in this post seems just to look better. I don't know. I do like my Alpines though.

It's too bad the built-in TV tuner is analog...now that everyone is going digital, it would've been cool to have HDTV in the car! :)

I will say the alpine is most likely nicer, higher quality, more features, etc.

But for half the price this unit fits with no brackets or extra stuff and seems to have plenty of good features.

Found this one too, sold in usa with free shipping. Concerns are, no operating system listed and while it does give specs, it shows FM sensitivity @ 12db which sounds poor, reception?? (most normal stereo's I'm looking at are 8-9db , lower is better...) Anyone know about it? Price is great!
