Need help with lowering springs

I just purchased new rims and tires today, and I really want to take the chance and lower my sedan as well. I need some expert help please.
I got some 17" rims and the tires are 205/40/R17.
My question is, how low can I go, without having any problems?
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
