Aux Port for MP3/iPod Players

Does anyone else have this problem? When I plug in my iPod, I can hear the music on my Yaris sound system, BUT the sounds is kind of staticy, like listening to a cheap cassette copy of an album....I have to twist the jack randomly before the sound improves. This happens about 50% of the time I use the Aux jack. The iPod works perfectly by the way, so I don't know what to make of this. I just got my 2007 LB a few days ago.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Unless the volume is too low on your iPod and too high on your car stereo, I'd say it was the quality of the mp3 on your iPod.

I can see that that could be the case, but the quality of the songs on the iPod are excellent. I do have the volume on the iPod cranked all the way up, so that I rely on the car's stereo volume to control the loudness.

Now if I tweek the cable which is plugged into the jack the sound often improves...could it be that my aux jack is jacked up? No pun intended....lol

Yes, you have a bad cable. I have a bad cable in one of my cars and it does the same thing.

I had that problem with my XM Radio. I bought a groundloop isolator and it fixed it.

I bought my Yaris in Greece and I have no Aux in...
As you can see...

Perhaps there is a solution.. There is something downthere!

Is this "plug" for the Aux in?

Thank you!

Chances are, yes. I'm guessing that when built all LB have the same wire loom. It's just a matter of if anything is plugged into the plugs. IMO the AUX input is overated. For one the volume level sucks. I can just as easily burn a few cd's and have a ton of music at my finger tips.

Was it ever found out if this is the aux cable? I have the same plug as the picture above loose in my 2008 Yaris.

Thanks

Well, my thoughts on the subject is this. The plug is facing straight up and the cover on mine is open a lot of times. It is very possible you could have some dirt and gunk down in there which would give you the same symptom as a bad cable. There are electronic cleaning sprays you squirt down in there to clean it up that are fast drying. Can't hurt to try that.
