Is it necessary to follow the requiered mantience manual?? I would love to make my car last as long as possible, but should the trans be flushed at 30,000 or is that just toyota wanting my money? any help would be grateful!

IMO a lot of things in the service manual are money grabs, but if you're not comfortable with making those decisions you should do what they say for your peace of mind.

You can even make an argument that the oil change interval is a service charge since in Britain it's twice as long as here.

Are you talking about a 2007-2009 Yaris with auto tranny? If so, you don't need to flush the tranny until 100,000 miles. I have 58,000 miles on mine now and will confidently wait until 100,000 to get it flushed.

its really 80,000 but there is no harm in changing fluid that early. i myself would save the money and wait........

my 07 auto sedan service manual and scheduled maintenance guide both say 100,000 miles, and don't say anything about the tranny at 30k.
