Yaris/Vitz MK1 automatic kick-down not working?
I have a 3-door Toyota Yaris, MK1 (year 2000). Auto transmission. 1.3L.
My kick-down has stopped functioning (ie that gear downshifting boost I should get when I floor the gas pedal). On the motorway I can manually shift down by pressing the O/D (overdrive) button, or manually shift the gear into second, but this is not optimal. This did lead me to guess that the mechanical part of the gearbox is fine.. The problem did start to occur roughly around the time I cleaned out the MAF sensor (with contact cleaner, which improved it a lot), and a mechanic was checking out the car etc. But im not sure if that was the cause. Does the car have a kickdown switch? (i cant see it). Please advise me where the kickdown is controlled and ideas on how to fix it? (A local garage cant diagnose the issue. OBD diagnostics don't throw up any codes) Thank you for your help! |

You mean it doesn't downshift when your floor it?
