Actually, I was just wondering, did this show how to change the lights under the automatic shifter knob? How would I do that?

What was the total cost for all the LED's ? I am seriously considering doing this but I think I'll have my local Electrician do the welding for me.... unless someone that has doe this to their own Yaris in the central coast area wants to teach me how? lol I'll buy ya lunch :-)

I did both my radio and gauge cluster for $15 for all the LED's with shipping.

I'll assume this can work on any year Yaris, and that the LED part numbers will be the same?

Has anyone tried doing the install using SMD leds rather than the old fashioned leds? They tend to light up larger surface areas which should significantly reduce hot spots. OP, are the hot spots less noticeable in person?

Nice DIY post. Thanks for taking the time to post it. Awesome.
Although my 2011 Sedan has white cluster light so I am OK. But maybe one day I may change the colour for the fun of it. Happy motoring *

could you send me a link to which bulbs you bought for yours? Im having trouble finding the exact right ones and I want to do red as well. and how exactly did you change out the LCD displays? is it just another bulb you have to replace?

So leds seem to have come a long way since this thread was first started. I initially never wanted to attempt a mod where the light output was worst than oem. They now sell stand alone SMD LEDs which I assume is the exact same as what toyota uses behind the dash.
Here's a link for one that I might just attempt to use to swap out the retro green leds: http://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-Ultra-...item2c67d2cee8 |
