Replacement wiper blades
So we had our first good rain for this season a couple of weeks ago and I noticed that my wipers weren't doing a good job. After spending about 30 minutes in a local auto parts store I decided to try out the Bosch ICON, since I like the wind spoiler feature. I only got the one for the driver's side, thinking that if I don't like it, I'll return it right away.
After installing it, I was so impressed that I went back inside to get the passenger's side. The problem is, the smallest they have is 16" and I need 13". Any ideas where I can find a blade with this design (the wind spoiler) in 13"? I looked on Amazon, other online stores, couldn't find a 13" blade with a wind spoiler on it. A couple of days later I checked the blades on my wife's car (2008 Scion xD) and her stock blades have the spoilers. Dang! And I haven't measured it, but it looks like the passenger blade is the same size as the one on the Yaris. So is my only chance to get one at the dealership? I don't want to pay the delership premium fomr something that should be $20. |

Price it and find out. I don't think they would price themselves out of the market.

Just so everyone is aware you can take apart a the Rain-X Latitude cut them down and re-assemble for the passenger side if you are careful. I got tired of trying to find a uniform pressure blade in the small size "13-14" so I bought a 16" and cut it down, works great.

Rather than buying a whole new wiper, you can get and replace just the rubber blade from the dealership. I discovered this after I bought a whole new wiper from them once. I don't know about U.S. pricing, but an insert should be about 1/3 (or less) the cost of any whole blade replacement option.

I know the pain of trying to find the small wiper. My Sedan uses a 14" wiper, and the only brand I can find that makes it so small is one called (ironically enough) Exact Fit at my local Advance Auto Parts.

Trico NeoForm "aerodynamic" beam blades has our size (26/14). Rockauto.com sells them. To get a discount, Google "rockauto discount code". There is also a manufacturer rebate @ TricoRebates.com. Happy hunting!

I will probably do the same now that you have good luck with it. Also, what size wipers does the sedan need? I got the 07. I don't know the exact sizes. I want to know so I can buy the fancy wipers that all nice cars/new cars are coming out with. THey are aerodynamic, and have better cleaning of the windshield. |

Looks perfect to me. What did you use for cutting? I have a bolt cutter somewhere at home, do you think that would work? There is a metal strip inside the blade somewhere, isn't there?

Thanks guys, you will need a small flatblade screwdriver, wiss snips and a razor knife. You use the screwdriver to pop the end caps off and thats the hard part because you have to twist pretty hard but they will come off. Then take inner pcs apart(metal backer, plastic body and the rubber wiper) cut the metal pc with the snips, the plastic you can use the razor or a hacksaw blade, and rubber wiper with the razor, reassemble put a dab of adhesive inside each end cap and your good to go. You have to use a wiper with removable end pcs or I don't think this will work.
