Even with the panel foamed, you're trying to force a crap ton of mid bass energy through the OEM grill. This is why I opened up mine. You have a heck of a lot more free energy and less panel rattle with that OEM grill removed. I'll be finishing up the finish of the panel trim on mine as soon as the a pillars are roughed in.

Thumbs up

No way! I'm cutting the panels for sure! Too much macho power going through,
They have to breath free!!!!!! I recognize that my system sounds so good (at least to me) thanks to the great Midbass I'm getting, can't wait to feel the L6s with the power of the ID amp.

and...

I want to see the L6s move!... I'll make a simple grill cloth some day.

also I'm adding some sort of water protection, just in case! made of left overs of MLV, who said recycle!

Next there is some special deadening... what I mean is to reduce vibrations (rattles caused by the L6's as much as possible)

You're going to find that the squeaks and rattles happen on the extreme ends of the control bezels in the doors.

Drope me an e-mail D. I've got an idea about the panel and perhaps some really effective deadening.

put it back in and spray it with undercoating or sprayable bed liner to keep it stable.

So the L6 is singing, didn't have time to get a feeling since there is no door panel.

Speaking of door panels (pilot side) it's getting heavy, I like the peal and stick therapy! thought

and took advantage of the Extruded Butyl Rope to make my door heavier... (LINK)

I knew I was going to run out of EBR (and I need more for the passenger's side) so I called Don at SDS (LINK) for more! [Nice talking to you Don, I know you are following this thread] Thanks again.

Put some of the butyl rope pieces here:

The L6 makes that Zeus look like a little teeny speaker...

It could get a little messy and probably very hard to uninstall later, I didn't have time to go out and give them a try (not a lot of work in December), but I'll let you guys know the outcome!

OHhhh Yeah! L6 are bigger, and they are not beefy like a V8 muscle car, more like a racing car very light but strong, hit hard and FAST! would be my description to other speakers out there.

Derick,

I'm coming at you!

Got the passenger's side trunk glassed and have the amp case fitted in...

Next is the driver's side trunk glassing. The A-pillars are roughed in. I'll have to take some pics of that for you to show my aiming. The kicks are roughed in and need some sanding to go to paint. I've also got to get the radio bezel dremeled out to fit the Bit One controller...then off to paint.

Get moving with yours Derick! Action! :)

Exclamation

.

Check this out! This is from a member (Winterboy04) of DIYMA interested in my 6.5 subwoofer...

.
"So i had the opportunity to check out this beast of a Yaris last Friday. Derick was kind enough to allow a complete stranger to screw around with his stereo! My intent was to hear the HAT 6.5" woofer in action (specifically in the front of the vehicle) because i have a Tacoma access cab and i will need the space where my sub is currently for a babyseat. I am no audiophile, only an aspiring car audio nut working my way up, so my explanations of what I heard could be a little “dull”, but to say the least, his car was game changing for me.

Because he has a Yaris, he’s got a large dashboard due to the angle of the windshield, this seems to work perfectly because his imaging really puts the entire band or singer directly there in front of you. He went through the 7 drums exercise, and a couple other test tracks, but where the system seemed to shine was in the mid to mid-low sections of common songs. I was blown away by the highs, crystal clear, not bright, not piercing, just clean and vibrant. But those midranges, man were those nice. His door speakers are putting out frequencies that I have a hard time hearing from my 10” sub. At one point, he turned off the subwoofer to show the frequencies they were actually playing. That was when my car stereo plans changed. The amount of work he put into deadening and anti-rattle truly paid off, because I have never heard a car that had a range like that from the front.

So thank you for getting to me before I blew money on a new subwoofer and amp. I know now that I need to spend some coin and time turning that truck cab into a silent chamber.
And for anyone who is looking for impressions on that HAT subwoofer…holy crap. You would think that thing was a ten. So clean and so smooth. It still on my radar for future upgrades!
Thanks for the opportunity Derick!"
