LSD for a 2008 Yaris

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy an LSD for my manual trans. I'm looking for a torsen type not a clutch type. TRD, Kaaz, Cusco etc. Let me know if anyone is interested in selling and shipping to the states

Kaaz is a clutch type. Quaife also offers a gear diff.

Any particular reason you prefer gear over clutch?

That's strange, I thought I had read Kaaz was a helical or torsen type? Thanks for the heads up.

I like the lock up in a clutch type better but I just don't want to have to remove the diff every once in a while to change clutch packs. Its a dd for me and gets driven about 25-30k I'm a year (much less than that once next year is over).

So essentially the lack of maintenance where I'll have the car down for a couple days is the reason I thought I'd avoid clutch type

Five years of racing on it and we are having our first rebuild done on an OS Giken LSD.

I like gear diffs in RWD cars, but in FWD the inside tire lift opens them up and kills forward motion. But I do agree, its set and forget it when it comes to a gear diff, only reason to open the box is if you ever need a synchro replaced.

Hmm, that's good info for sure. I didn't realize that they lasted that long. I may open my search up to clutch type as well. I thought it'd be something that I had to work on every 2 years or so. Every 5 is not a big deal

That's the one thing that sucks with the gear type is the fact that if I have zero traction on one wheel it esssentially becomes an open diff.

Watch Jason at the 2015 Runnoffs and see how much better he come off the corners than the competition.

There are a couple options available but Iwant a helical due to the maintenance ease and the fact that it's a dd. My cheapest option is a quaife lsd and they are $1150 off eBay. I'm hoping to find a used one cheaper so I can spend the rest of the funds on other areas of my car

Clutch type are cheaper but not ideal for me
