Steering Wheel question

Hi all,

does anyone know if a 2010 scion tc steering wheel will fit our cars and still retain function of the airbag? Are there any other options out there for a solid colour leather steering wheel? I read that the xD and xB steering wheels fit but they only come in two-tone leather. I want an all black leather steering wheel but I want to retain use of my airbag and also keep an OEM look. Thanks in advance.

The steerign wheel from the tC fits, that is what I put in mine....came out of a 2006 tC....dont know about the new tC if it will fit or not.

Mine I was able to bolt the thing in like it was stock, the airbag is not a perfect match fit tot eh wheel curves but it is close enough and feels way better than the plaxtic one that came in the car stock.

Pretty sure there is a picture on the thread Divorce forces me to modify of mine installed, most likely the last page.

To install it I found that a small tab on the wheel needs trimmed off,it gets in the way of how the wheel lines up with the blinker return ring.

Thanks for the tip bzinn. Did you just swap over the airbag system from the Yaris wheel to the tC wheel? The wheel I'm getting is from the 1st generation tC (bought in 09 as a 10 model), not the new one that came out recently.

Yep just transfer the airbag over to the new wheel.....very close to perfect fit on the cover on the angles of the curves....you will see...it works good.

Not sure about the Corrolla wheel.

Thanks bzinn. I don't suppose you would know if the scion airbag could be wired to work on the yaris would you?

Any Toyota/Lexus/Scion dual squib airbag will work. If you find a wheel with a single squib airbag, then to use it you would have to connect a 3ohm resistor across the second airbag connector to keep the SRS ECU happy.

Scott, thanks a bunch for that bit of information; that really helps a lot. When I eventually get my hands on the wheel do you mind if I shoot you a PM when I do the installation? I'll be putting up a full write-up when I get around to doing this.

edit: I know this might be a bit late but...will I need to do anything to get the horn to work?

Definitely hit me up if you have questions. The horn will connect the same.

If anbyody wants to take the dive and make a DIY.. here's a wheel on ebay.

I think Scott could tackle it easily ;)

I actually have a Scion TC leather steering wheel on Crashy. The Yaris airbag cover doesn't fit it perfectly, so ideally you would want the TC airbag:

Scott,

Do you have the door lock actuators from the Crashy somewhere? I am looking into installing those in my car (08 2dr).

Well this was supposed to happen a long time ago but unfortunately the guy I was getting the wheel from backed out. I've since put the money towards my other car as I'm trying to just get the damn thing finished already (on-going project since 04'); Yaris is on the back burner now (although it did make out like a bandit and get some goodies out of me before the decision so I've got some stuff I need to install on it).

The airbag cover is completely different on a 2011, so if the spline is still the same it will fit, but you'd also need the complete airbag assembly.
