Bought 3 new JDM imports last year

lots more coverage on my instagram

https://www.instagram.com/bigcirclelittlecircle/

2001 Honda Acty that had only 3,500km (2,150 miles)
1996 Daihatsu Midget II
1992 Mazda Autozam AZ1

Each one has a different 3cyl with just 660cc.

Not everyone's style but I love em and each one is a blast and I'm gonna get more Kei cars in 2017

japanese mini truck gullwing sportscar Subaru Daihatsu Honda

What a great set!
(My nearest CL had listing by one seller for 3 nice looking white 1991 mini trucks...one Daihatsu, one Honda, one Subaru. 660cc 4wd each about 40-65k miles and about 5k dollar asking.)

It was about 950,000jpy (ish) at the time.
+ getting it to port / de-registered / into a container was another 100,000jpy
+ shipping (about $2500 to my door in Ottawa Canada)
+ Duty of 6.1%
+ taxes of 13%
+ registration
+ fees to the importer.........

=

You can sometimes find AZ1's cheap (ish) in Japan (around 600,000jpy) but they are usually pretty rough. Then you gotta factor whatever costs to get it into your hands)

I'd say I was a tad higher because of the exchange rate at the time.

Honda Beat's sell WAY cheaper in Japan for a nice one, just because there were so many of them sold and because it has the least cache.

Like I'm talking ........low mileage / grade 4 or 4.5 Beat's.....that sell in the 500,000JPY range.

Cappuccino's aren't so cheap though. The Cappuccino market has been exploding (high) for good ones. I turned one down a couple weeks ago that was shady and sold for 1,000,000 jpy. And the really really good cappuccinos are fetching upwards of 1,400,000jpy (which on its own isn't horrible, but then you still have to get it in your hands)

The dude who imported my AZ1, will soon be putting another one (blue) for sale on BringAtrailer.com. Its actually cleaner than mine in some ways.

Shoot him an email craig@bonsairides.com

The white Truck is a Honda Acty
The green Truck is a Daihatsu Midget II
The Red car is a Mazda Autozam AZ1

As for Toyota's...... There is coverage of both my Yaris and my MR2Spyder on my instagram, as well as the occasional picture of my Friends FRS

I remember the Midget II from Grand Turismo 2 on the PlayStation. We modified it as much as possible in that game... and it was still extremely slow haha.

That red car though... more pics of that please. It's so bizarre and awesome at the same time.

How's it work to have an imported car licensed in Ontario? I'm curious about what goes into that and with e testing?

Yeah, I’ve built both of them in the most recent version of Gran Turismo

Here in Ontario we’re pretty lucky.
As long as its 15 years or older and it has basic safety equipment (lights / seat belts etc….) its acceptable.
Basically you could pretty much license ANYTHING as long as it had lights + turn signals + seatbelts

Actually that’s part of the reason I took so long to find one, because I prefer them without the wing.
Several of them came up for auction which were actually pretty good cars but they all had some form of either the oem or an aftermarket wing.
