Rock hits on windshields are common in the desert regions like Arizona. They even have special laws here for insurance companies in that regard. Quite a few replaced/repaired windshields on many cars out here. It's like playing Russian Roulette every time you hit the road. My sister's 2012 Mazda3 has had its windshield replaced THREE times already since she purchased it new, and her 2004 Toyota Sequoia twice. I've had a dime-sized rock hit repaired on my 2015 Yaris (upper middle of windshield) thus far. It wasn't quite bad enough to warrant full windshield replacement. Next time, it will.

If it's not too bad, then you can try to fix it yourself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjuWqBzO7qY

Nothing says "welcome to Arizona" quite like a rock to the windshield.

True enough - but, I will take running the rock gambit any day over dealing with road salt, rust, and ice/snow weather driving with crazies in general.

How much is a replacement windshield or chip repair where you guys are?

I paid $280 for a windshield installed - but chip repairs in my city were $70!

I'm on my second windscreen in my 06 hatchback. I've had 2 replacements done on the cover that comes with my car insurance at £75 each. I guess its kind of paid off so far. Although the last time they did it, it leaked and it took several goes to get it fixed. 😐
