My original battery lasted about 5.5 years, but my Yaris sits for extended periods and is often only started to move it around in my driveway so I can get my Jeep in and out of the garage. I was impressed that it lasted that long, but it died a long, agonizing death. The quick-turn starting mechanism quit working around last October, and it had to be jump-started a few times after sitting for several weeks. I finally relented and bought one of the NAPA batteries CTScott recommended, and it's been starting great ever since!

The battery in my '07 is a FB High Dash, distributed by Toyota, so it is the OEM battery. I tested it with my meter and it showed 12.7 volts, so it's still good after 6 1/2 years.

Depends on temp. If you live in a very hot place, you'll get 3~4 years. If your in a very mild place, than expect 5~8 years.

Yep. Very hot place. Most auto people around here say 3 years and my OEM lasted 28 days short of 3 years (and 138k miles) and I replaced my 2nd battery (which was only a 1 year guarantee battery) after exactly 3 years (and around 86k-88k miles).

Earlier today I was listening to a car maintenance call in show on a local radio station (KPRC 950 AM). I'd never listened to this show before. The show has two hosts, one male and one female (each owns an auto repair shop). A listener called in and asked what would be the the best aftermarket battery to get to replace her original battery. Both hosts immediately said the NAPA Legend battery that CTScott recommended and you currently own.

I hope so, and I was impressed that the NAPA employee who rang me up saw my retired military ID card and made sure I got the military discount!

Considering how hot San Antonio gets, and the number of short starts I did with it; I was surprised my OEM battery lasted as long as it did. The NAPA Legend fit perfectly in my car (I recall you had issues with batteries not going in easily) and it took all of a few minutes to install it.

I can't give a long-term review at this time but based on what I've experienced so far I know where I will be going for my next battery (which hopefully will be at least another five years! )

Cheers! M2

Yeah, at two different points (3 years apart) the Wal-Mart series 35 battery wouldn't fit in my Yaris. First time they wouldn't put in any battery, and the second time they put in the 26R without my having to even suggest that alternative. I read CTScott's recommendation after my current (the Wal-Mart 26R with 1yr full replacement ) battery was already in my Yaris. I'd like to take my Yaris (as a DD) to between 375k and 400k. I've had the current battery since 9-9-12, so I doubt it will last until then. When it starts to give out (or when I decide I REALLY want the extra minutes of reserve time ), I'll replace it with the NAPA Legend you have. With CTScott recommending it, I'm willing (as you were) to install one.

The day mine died, it was still registering 12.5 volts. The CCA was in the toilet at ~115.

My OEM battery lasted 6.5 years before I had to replace it.

It died rather suddenly .. one day it was fine and a couple days later, it was totally dead.

I replaced my ECHO battery at 7 years but it was actually still good. The clutch over ride switch was frozen with ice and wouldnt actuate. A new battery didnt start the car!

All my batteries do me like this. I think its because I only operate the vehicles every day, for 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the afternoon, on aveage.

Have I posted this before?

I think you're probably right re why your batteries last as long as they do. If you left the car for relatively long periods (weeks, months) without starting it, that wouldn't be good, but the two 20 minute drives each day would ward off any such issues (as lond as you don't use the A/C, radio, etc. with the engine off ). Also, not being in the Southeast or Southwest helps (Gulf heat, desert heat, etc.)

My original Panasonic is 7 years old and still going strong. This is the longest lasting battery I have ever owned. I just topped it with distilled water last month for the first time and charged it to 100% on the DieHard battery charger.

Mine died this weekend, it gave me warnings for about two weeks. I thought maybe the car was getting a little older and wanted that half sec wamp before starting. It last 3 1/2 years. Got a Duralast to replace it. Only 30k miles on the car, doing great though.

5 years. Probably would have lasted longer, however I let the car sit for 6 weeks in Phoenix and the battery went dead. Never the same since.
