2001 Echo tranny fluid loss, best next steps?
Echo, 257K miles, original ATF fluid. Tranny been working fine, read advice to not mess with it so I've never done anything with it.
I'll skip the story about hitting a deer months ago at 55mph <long story>, so just now the tranny rubber hose to the radiator finally wore through (rubbing against radiator fan housing). Driving at 55mph, I noticed in rear view mirror... "Hey, my car is smoking!", pulled over in parking lot with major leak/spraying fluid. Mostly hot-chocolate brown, some tinge of red. Pushed it home in neutral (2 miles), jacked up front, found the issue. Now... what should be my next steps after hose is fixed? I've not drained the tranny pan to see how much ATF fluid is left. 2002 Echo shop manual says ATF Type T-IV, but I see people talking about WS fluid. Thanks, Lee |
