2000 Yaris oil type

Hi all ,

i have a 2000 yaris 1.0 vitz auto it has 105,000 miles , what type of oil would i get thanks a lot

Castrol or Mobil 5w30 should be fine.

Here's the Toyota oil chart for the 1.0L. It looks like they recommend heavier weight oil than 5W30, except for cold weather use:

Not sure what kind of temps you see over in Dublin but, me personally, I wouldn't shy away from a 5W-30.

A 10W-30 and a 5W-30 are both 30 weight oils once they reach operating temperatures. So, there's no difference there.

However, as you can see, the "W" number is different between the two. The 5W is going to be ever so slightly thinner than the 10W when the temps drop.

All that being said, often times a 10W-30 will have a slightly better NOACK number (less likely to 'burn off') than it's 5W brethren. With that in mind, if you have a lot of miles, a 10W-30 may be a bit better fit for you.

Hopefully, armed with your new knowledge, you can now decide for yourself which weight oil you'd like to use ;)
