Finally installed my hood deflector and WeatherTech in-channel vent visors today.

The hood deflector I purchased from ToyotaPartsStore. It's the exact same one sold by Toyota in Canada and that Garm / cali yaris sells in his MicroImage Online store.

Here it is:

The deflector does protect most of the leading edge of the hood (a detail which usually can't be seen unless you're up close) and obviously protects a portion of the hood's surface.

Here are the WeatherTech in-channel vent visors:

I also did Kou's hood seal mod. I did it a little differently though. I ordered 4 feet of this:

and just stuck it on. This weatherstrip comes pre-attached to double sided 3M weather-proof tape. 4 feet was a little long so I just cut it to the length I needed.

Looks awesome. Being in Canada, I have the same deflector installed as a dealer option when I bought the car. Functional and visually appealing.

I also have the in-channel window visors for my 5-door. These are Genuine Toyota visors, supplied as a dealer option. They have the Toyota logo in the same location as the Weathertech logo that yours has.

keep us updated on the fitment of the visors from WeatherTech. Some have complained about them falling off

I have a feeling the same company makes WeatherTech's and Toyota's in-channel vent visors. Both have that little part at the front that go down for the front windows. When I had a 3-door LB, that part on both sides kept pulling out on their own. Ended up returning them. I believe another member here actually had his WeatherTechs fall out while driving on the highway.

With these new WeatherTechs for the 5-door LB, the two for the back doors both have double sided tape pre-applied. For the front doors, I put strips of 3M double sided weather proof tape on the part that goes downwards to keep them from pulling out on their own this time.

I am curious on the extra hood seal....... will it do anything that will help? I would worry it would freeze the hood shut in the ice around here.

I just bougt a 2009 3 door lift back. Has anyone purchased either an auto vent shade or weatherteck windo rain deflector kit by either of these vendors for the 2009 2 door model? TIA , Mark S

Are you really going to open your hood during winter when your car isn't inside your garage?

The WeatherTech and AutoVentShade in-channel vent visors for the '07 and '08 LB will fit the '09 3-door LB.

of course im gonna open my hood even though its not garaged, its all part of keeping my engine clean when i give her a bath. NOW, can anyone confirm the freezing of the weatherstrip to the hood or is it just another negative comment as usual....

Agreed...I will open my hood as well!

Any seal will freeze when it's cold enough and there's residual moisture and/or moisture period. I don't recommend it for that reason

Why don't you try it? The weatherstrip is cheap. You obviously live somewhere where it cold enough for things outside to freeze.

I don't need to try it because I already know what will happen. When it's cold out...it will freeze.

Now... if you live somewhere where it doesn't freeze, this mod is just fine.
