Motor Longevity

Assuming one keeps their Yaris stock, and does all the recommended maintenence by the book (or better), how long is it reasonable to expect the motor to last? 200,000 miles reasonable?

i'd say its very reasonable... i'd say 300k wouldn't be out of the question - maybe even 400k or more? :)

It depends how you drive it; 150,000-200,000 if your hard on it and 300,000-500,000 if your really nice. I've regularly seen Toyota's go even furthur than that without problems.

It will last as long as you take care of it- follow the factory maintenance schedule and use factory fluids.

I see 1991-1994 LS 400 sedans all the time with 400,000+ miles, and not a thing wrong.

I agree. Regular maintenance and not abusing the car will make it last easily over 200,000 miles. When the motor finally blew in my grandpa's '73 chevy truck, it had well over 400,000 miles on the original block. Yeah it had the usual oil leaks etc, but it got the job done. No reason the same thing shouldn't happen to your Yaris.

Member triniper4mance hit 457,000 miles in January of 2012 (see comments on his YouTube channel) and member Mazilla hit 470,000 miles on his car in September or October of 2011---although he stated the previous owner had to replace the engine (at what mileage interval did this occur?--I don't know). I'll hit 208,000 miles in the next couple of days on my original engine.
