My new data logger

It's like a ScanGauge but on steroids.

Here's a short video of it in action.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udWC2J_y0To

Here's a link to the product:

http://www.auterraweb.com/dashdynoseries.html

It also comes with software that runs on computer. I've been logging data and analyzing different parameters. Alot to learn about this thing.

You ain't seen nuthin yet, wait till I post all the data it can collect and graph. This is what tuners need to see all the engine parameters playing against each other.

Here's a sample of some data that I logged and then graphed. What is hard for me to determine is what data is important to log. I'll post a list of the parameters that the Yaris presents.

BTW, I was amazed that we can get the AFR from the OBD II port without buying a standalone wideband AF gauge.

cool!

Well, from looking through PK's own data logs, what would be useful to look at is throttle position, engine RPM, engine load, short term fuel trim, MAF value, AFR as well since you can (but it certainly won't be as accurate as your wideband's)

Now can you tell us at what point the fuel is shut off to the injectors? IE: In gear coasting and at what RPM does the injectors open again? This is for us hypermilers.

Here are the parameters that the Dyno-Scan can read for the Yaris. I will start recording different parameters to answer different questions about the operation of our cars.

What the software can't graph due to the size of the screen, I can graph in Excel.

Help me pick the parameters you want recorded.

I'm not sure what parameters to use to find the answer to my question. Maybe someone could chide in here.
What I'd like to know is when the DFCO deactivates. Stick the clutch back in and the fuel is supplied to the injectors again. The subject has been brought up before to install a light on one of the injectors to see when it was activated again, but I thought your gauge might tell us that without the mod.
So... If I wait until the last moment to press in the clutch, at what RPM would that be?

Cool! What tool did you use to log the data. Mine does not show fuel status so I have to infer it based on AFR and other indicators.

Wideband sensors are only as useful as the ECU that can read them. Having a wideband on a narrow band tune (such as the stock ECU) is non beneficial as far as inner workings of how the motor operates.

That being said, the ability to view the transitions between lean and rich may be of use to the average consumer granted there is some logic in the stock ECU that changes significant amounts of parameters based on this state (rich vs lean). With the Yaris, I don't know what that may or not mean.

In stock Honda's with stock 02 sensors it was always known that if you plug up a generic autometer AF gauge up, if the rating oscilatted between rich and lean back and forth, you were somewhere in the sweet spot for FE. Perhaps that is the case with the Yaris and this new gauge that you guys are talking about.

Long story short...I'm interested.
