Question Rubber cover over HIDs...

The rubber grommet cover used to prevent from condensation building up inside the headlights.....how did you guys manage to put that over the HID bulbs?

I have HIDs i bought from Garm, H4....and that small hole won't go through it...

What has everyone with those HIDs or some other H4 brand, done to overcome this?

I was able to force the right hand side on, but there is not enough space on the left hand side to get my hands in. Rubber stretches.

Rubber does stretch but the small opening does not stretch enough to where it can sit at the base of the HID bulb to where the three little tabs are to sit in the headlight housing correctly....

Did you force through the front of the HIDs or through the back? Because through the back the ballast is connected and i can't remove those wires...there put inside the unit~

My HID's had quick connects between the ballast and the bulb. . . I've never seen HID's that had fixed cables to the bulb!!!!! How do you change the bulbs when they (eventually) fry? Are you sure there is no wire harness disconnect? It took a lot of work, but it fit (and I have dual beam kit with a large metal control servo for the high/low shield).

I forced 'em through from the back side. . . that sounds so wrong. . .

that made my day, sir.

Sorry, I overlooked the wires...too many wires going here and there.

Yeah, i removed the wires and had to cut 1/2 inch or less at the tip of the rubber to fit them tightly from the back side.

Stupid thing though, I put the sealant on before actually putting the bulb in first and the retainer clip on~~

silicon adhesive sealant doesn't come off the hands very easily.

Thank you for responding and helping out with this, really appreciate it

Hmm...what brand or where did you get yours from? Mine has this shielf half way around the bulb itself, i think its a glare shield as some have called it~

I got mine from the Bangkok Motor Show in Thailand (just like the LA or SF autoshow). Contrary to the shows in the states, people come to these shows to buy new cars as dealers set up sales stations and offer great deals on the cars. They also have a smaller area for modded cars and parts. I picked up my set there for a HUGE discount.

The brand is Equator (probably some made in china stuff) and it uses some sort of servo to pull the bulb in and out of the shield. The craftmanship of the kit is actually REALLY good and it came with a relay and fuse prewired into a harness! Not a bad deal for $USD 40.
