Bushings and bolts for the suspension
Hey everyone, hope fully someone can help me before I drive to the stealership.
Since I not have around 53k miles, and I live in the city, my shocks are dead, and bumps hit really hard. I was told by a good friend of mine that shocks would help me a lot, especialy with stiffness to the road/being planted. But that also the bushings and bolts would most likely have to be changed to give my car that new feeling again. This way the rubber eats the bumps, and not me/the dash inside the car. Could anyone here please help in letting me know where I would find all the part numbers for what I need? I tried looking at the DIY parts site, but its not in there. I just want my car to feel like new again, and to treat it better then before, no more running over bumps at 60-100mph and not caring. Those days are over. |

The bolts that hold your struts and shocks in place would really have to be abused severely or have significant play in their mounts to be damaged to the point of needing replacement. If you don't see any visual signs of damage/wear, they are fine. The bushings can easily wear, but they are part of the replacement shock assembly int he rear,a nd ont he steering components in the front, I beleive. Ball joints, tie rod ends, etc. Other than that, its body mounts and engine/tranny mounts. Hard to beleive they'd be fatigued much on a 2-3 year old car. Try your tire sizes/inflation pressures first, then shocks/struts.
Then again, you aren't ever going to get a "cushy" ride in a subcompact. IMHO |
