Are you saying that he parked somewhere that said "No Parking" but he wasn't in anyone's way by doing so? For example: Let's say he parked by the curb of an empty street that nobody ever drive on, and it said "No Parking" and he got a ticket but he wasn't harming anyone to do so? Sorry, i'm just a little confused by this. |

I'm just trying to say that even if you break the law it doesn't mean you're inherently a bad person.

MadMax, relax dude.... In Canada we look differently at life. $40 parking ticket is a minor offence. If parked in handicaped spot the ticked would be $500. And I would not support him here.
I expect by-law officers to know their car brands. Peace..... |

Also, the by-law enforcement officer could have made a(n actual) mistake. Hence the court system. Quote:

wow this thread is getting out of hand.. by the way dont be to quick to judge about me breaking a law.. i did park on the street where there was an actual parking spot separate line for cars to park and its after hour too theres about 12 cars on the line up as well no signs of no parking but it seems like a sign was vandalized and taken off somewhere. but you really think id take a $40 worth ticket to court to explain the scenario.. i was about to pay the $40 but ask the teller about the ticket showing scion where my ownership shows toyota all she said was if ticket is inaccurate its invalid.
lol like me going 86 km/hr on 80 zone which turns into 60 and got charge for speeding i crossed that line going 70 km/hr.. i paid for a ticket thats not legit..

Parking tickets are about the same here and are not considered criminal cases either unless the individual fails to pay them. But parking laws still exist despite the fact that violations are considered administrative actions. So anyone cited for parking illegally has broken the law, clear and simple. It's just some people are mature enough to realize that and accept the consequences, and a few will always try to convince themselves they are innocent despite their clear guilt. The latter will use any excuse available to get out of their responsibilities, and the fact that marcus admitted he violated the law and honestly the by-law enforcement officer did not make a mistake but was deceived by the fact that the badges have been changed on the car. So there is no reason to brag about the fact that the fine was dismissed, especially since the truly guilty party should have some integrity since in reality there really was no error on the part of the ticketing official. I'm an adult, if I get caught doing something wrong I don't find ways to weasel out of my responsibility. If I was illegally parked and got a ticket, I'd pay it because I knew I was in the wrong. If I am not wrong, then I go to court and fight it. I guess there are some who don't feel the same way...

Too bad you failed. If he parked illegally (as you claim we all know), then there was no mistake by the by-law enforcement officer. I am sure even you can admit that. The only reason the ticket was dismissed was that marcus didn't have the intestinal fortitude to tell them he changed the badges on his car and take his punishment like a man. Apparently that is a tactic that is applauded by the children of Canada. Maybe once those individuals grow up a little they will learn what it means to be a man and accept responsibility for their actions. But at the rate some of you are going, it's doubtful. And maybe you ought to learn a little bladder control...only puppies and little babies pee where they're not suppose to!

Without digressing, it's fairly clear (even to me, I know), that the OP parked illegally. And believe it or not, I've had my car ticketed and even towed once. Almost $200 later I learned a good lesson on fully reading parking signage. Would I have learned the same lesson if my car didn't get towed? Probably not. Doesn't mean I don't wish that I didn't have to pay the fine + tow charge though. Only if you get off the moral high-ground

MadMax,I am a child of Canada and I do not support Marcus in this. In this case Marcus was extremely lucky to win on a technicality and should thank his lucky stars on this one.

Guys don't make a big deal out of this it's a $40 ticket I got away from I'm not hurting no one and not parking on disabled parking or blocking a wheel chair driveway I simply did get lucky to get away with the ticket that's all if they ask to pay for It I would, I spend more than that in one bet on 3 card poker in casino for petes sake..
By the way me going 70km crossing 60km is still speeding but in Canada normally u don't get pulled for such speed 15 over mostlikely if they gonna charge me 10 over the limit atleast fine me the right amount..
