Exclamation Male/Male wire instead of adapter for pioneer 4900?

I plan on buying a pioneer 4900 head unit which has a rear aux port for the ipod. I understand you have to buy the $30 adapter to connect the ipod to the new head unit. Well can't I use my normal male/male wire that i currently use to connect my ipod to the yaris aux port in order to connect the ipod to the new head unit?

well have you read up on the adapter? it allows full control of your ipod..from the touchscreen

does the unit have a jack to plug in an accessory item your 'male connector"?

Nope, you can't use your male/male wire, because then you won't have iPod control from the deck (i.e. you won't be able to change songs from the deck) which is the whole purpose for buying a deck with iPod control.

If you really want to use your wire, you could probably run the other end to the back of the deck and hook it up directly as if the iPod were a Zune or portable CD player.
