Next Project - XSB DRLs

Hey guys, me again.

Now those projectors are finally fixed and working! (I promise I will eventually post pictures...) Next up, I'd like to install the Morimoto XSB LEDs for both DRL and indicator.

Currently got them wired for just the turn signal function but have the connectors ready to go for the DRL function. I did a search and couldn't find anything on here so forgive me if I've missed it but I am looking for a DRL relay box with the on/off function. Something of reasonable quality and would like your opinions and tips. I've done the cheap ones in the past and they've worked fairly well but always needed replacing after 6 months or so, so I'm looking to get something a bit more robust and the internet has so far only turned up the usual stuff. Happy to get it from either the UK or the USA, I'm in no rush.

Thanks

Do you have a link to those XSB?
Are they switchbacks? (white/amber)
If they are, it should already have the capability to do so - not relay required.

Thanks for the reply. Let me see if I can dredge up a link. They were the XSB 1.0 from TRS. It was in the closeout section so it's gone now. I wired them up directly to the battery as turn signal as described but the white was constantly on even with the engine off. That was the only reason I thought I needed a relay.

Does your car have factory DRLs?
Are you trying to make those XSBs a DRL function and turn signal function?

Can't find the link unfortunately. I'll post some photos of them and see if that'll help. No factory DRLs. Yeah I will be trying to use both functions on the LEDs

edit: found a site that sells the halo version. I have the strip LED but the controller and wires are the same

No instructions unfortunately. Looked online and couldn't find any. Even spoke to TRS who were very helpful but no schematics available. What I got from them was that these are designed to be hooked up to the car's 12v to power the DRL when the ignition is on. Anyone know which relay or wires I'm supposed to be looking at here to wire them directly? Here's a photo of the driver itself that came with the strip LED.

Simplest thing is to try it straight on your car.

Connect your LEDs on one end. Open your hood and lay it in the engine bay.

Touch the black wire terminal to the car battery's (-) side, use tape or something so it doesn't disconnect while you're testing.

While the black wire is still connected to the battery, touch the white terminal to the (+) side of the battery. I'm guessing at this point, the LED will light WHITE LIGHT. You'll need to confirm that.

If white wire (+) and black wire (-) produces white light, we can assume the yellow wire will be the amber light. Test it out. Disconnect the white wire.
With the black wire still connected to the battery (-), touch the white wire terminal to the battery's (+) terminal. Does the amber LED light up?

If all is good, you could tap the yellow wire to one of the terminals for your turn signal and the white to one of the fuses in the fuse box for ignition.
Black to the body ground or directly to the (-) of the battery. I don't think the LEDs draw much power, so the fuse won't blow.

Great, tested all those steps out and works exactly as you described :) So I can wire the positive to any of the fuses in the box itself? The wires are quite short so I'll need to look at extending them slightly for this. Thanks for your reply :)
