Here's my delima with the yaris.... I would love for it to be in either AWD or preferably RWD for me... Has anyone even attempted this yet?

According to Toyota of japan's website I think you can get it in 4wd there. It was one of the only things I could read on the page.
So you might be able to get all the parts from there but it's gonna cost you well more than an arm and a leg.

Anything can be done as long as funds aren't an issue.

Check out Project Sideways this guys did a rear wheel drive set-up. Or check out turboecho2005 he has a twin engine AWD set-up both are really cool projects.

I'm just saying, what's the point of buying a yaris if you wanted something rwd or awd. I'm all for a nice project, but I feel like if you originally wanted something awd or rwd it was a waste. I'd do awd turbo, yum yum.

it's ok, a lot of people don't see the point of what I'm doing either.

The Belta comes as an awd model. I still have my awd motor and setup for the 1st gen xB in storage. Too bad I won't finish that anytime soon

honestly, toyota should have brought the yaris 4wd 2 the us, sales would have gone up on these cars and we would have way more support performance companies, but either way, a 4wd and/or rwd setup would be a lot of werk, money, effort, and time but will defenitly be werth the blood, sweat and tears
btw, 2 all the haters, get a life, if you had the money you would do it 2, |

What would it take to swap out the rear axle for one with electric motors and some electronics? We already have drive-by-wire throttle, and should be easier than mating up an awd tranny and driveshaft.

I believe the Yaris in Japan that was/is available with AWD is not hooked up to the 1.5-liter 1NZ-FE. I think it's the 1.3-liter 2NZ-FE mill.
http://www.tradecarview.com/specific..._at_1.3/34004/ Also, is there a driveshaft tunnel for an AWD Yaris that makes the interior different?
