Good question. I have a contact in Japan that I used to use when I was interested in importing JDMs. I emailed him to see how big the difference is between the models. If it's relatively straightforward, I'll see what it would take to bring over some components.

There's a thread on here where I posted some images from the Japanese EPC of the drive train components of the AWD Yaris. The floor pan is different to accommodate the drive shaft.

^^ lol. personally, I'm waiting for the FR-S.
It's my OPINION that a Yaris is best suited to be an economy vehicle, and the money spent making it into something that's actually pretty fast would go further on a different platform. None of that is to say that my Yaris will stay completely stock, or that no one should ever try to make a Yaris fast- to each his own. I'd rather spend the money on something that is already RWD or AWD, and keep the Yaris as a reliable daily car, rather than a project.
Just my $.02, though.

i'd never buy a mustang, but if the evo or sti came in 3 door hatch i would probably have bought one instead of the Yaris.

For me the four doors is a deal breaker.
