Uprated Ignition Coils for 1NZFE

I am currently running my turbo 1NZFE with phased sequential injectors with a wastespark coilpack. Since this setup do not match full sequential operation I wish to know what direct ignition coils are available out there.

The only three I found are:

Okada Coils -
http://greddyvios.blogspot.com/2009/...or-1nz-fe.html

Splitfire coils -
http://www.rhdjapan.com/splitfire-di...-2nz-2az-54649

AEM coils -
Garm setup

Is there any other out there?

Another option is to add another coilpack and using 2 leads of each coil while the rest conclude to a wasted spark

Why not use the OE Yaris coilpacks? Proper fit, reliable, available... what am I missing?

I am trying to get information on better coils than OE. Also I am not sure if they can keep up the charge at higher boost levels....

I'm assuming you have full control over ignition events with your engine management. With that, I'd try the OE coils and see if they are sufficient. Coil-on-plug gives a pretty strong spark as it is, might be all you need.

(just hate to see the wheel reinvented until it's been proven to be an unusable wheel)

If that doesn't suffice, I'd look into whether there are any direct swappable Toyota coil units from a boosted Toyota. (assuming they aren't exactly the same parts) When it comes to stuff like this, you simply can't beat OE reliability. (not to mention availability and price)

It may be a long shot, but the 4b11 uses a similar setu as the Yaris. They have quite a few upgrades for the EVO so they may have one that will work for you.

I have full control over ignition ande you are right in saying to try with OE coils ... will discuss this with my tuner about it

I can actually check on that today since I just bought myself a Lancer and will be selling my Yaris.

If they can't spark at higher boost levels, the engine will misfire. If it doesn't misfire at maximum boost, you don't need uprated coils and will see no benefit from them. Spend your money on something else.

not needed.. unless your going for big power. even then your going to need a CDI unit with the coils. put your money else were like tuning on the dyno.

Another option to consider is reducing the plug gap if you did experience misfiring under heavy boost. I doubt you can use enough boost with 10.5:1 compression to encounter firing problems. I think you might just find it won't go quite as far wider than normal as the plug wears before it begins to misfire as it will unboosted. But I don't run boost and don't plan to.

I have seen neglected plugs in unboosted engines grow some impressively wide gaps before starting to misfire. (Including my daughter's old Echo that came with standard plugs, no platinum or iridium, and went 107,000 miles.) The stock coils have a lot of extra voltage capacity with the plugs at stock specs.
