wanting a yaris....BUT IM SHORT

I've been researching about cars ALOT, and always end with a yaris.

2009 Toyota Yaris
Internet Price
$12,411
Series 5dr HB Auto
Transmission Automatic
Mileage 34216

i tried to "bargain" by researching other cars similar with lower price, and lower miles and telling him but the guy said the internet price is the lowest he can go and i may get 2.9 interest rate for 60 months and i have 100000 mile warranty. IS THAT GOOOD? is the miles too high?

ALSO i am mostly likely going to the dealership on my own.. what do i need to know? cause I KNOW THESE PEOPLE will most likely add extra charges (like extra stuff) i don't need and i don't want that. And the contracts?? ANYTHING that will help me.

i'm inexperience and would like to learn from car owners..

ALSO I AM SHORT, 19 year old girl..4'11 and when i drive, my seat is somewhat very close to the wheel...not a good sight...

i research about the yaris and it have seat adjustments but not alot.. do you have any opinions on that?
thank you!

My wife is 4'11" and she drive my sedan all the time! And the seat is NOT all the way forward. Her own vehicle is a 2004 Highlander and everytime she drive "Ruby" (Mediterranean mica) she say gosh I ove that car! Can we get rid of the Highlander and get another Yaris? Not yet babe, one car payment at a time...

The tall people complain about not being able to move the seat far enough back, so that's a good sign for the vertically challenged (like myself at 5'4"). I find the Yaris extremely comfortable to drive. I sit very close to the steering wheel, but no more than in any other vehicle.

Dont be scared

The car you are looking at the mileage seems a bit high. I purchased my 2009 Yaris S for 13,000 with 2600 miles they were asking 15,300 about 8 months ago. When buying a car go to edmunds .com and get the value of the car, dont be rude, be firm when talking to the sales person. Towards the end of the month and holidays they will bargin more. Know how much you are willing to put down on the car and how much you want to spend. If you feel pressured say thanks get up and walk out. Do you have good credit, and do you have a bank, credit union to get a loan. Dont buy any additional warranties unless you think you need the assurance. You have the edge on the dealerships, they need you more than you need them, there is always another dealer. Thanks and good luck

Send a message via MSN to .Kevin.
5'9 or 5'10ish here and I fit just fine right about the middle remember, to have your joints bent abit (elbows + knees) because if you don't and you crash you will most likely break every bone.

I'm 5'3" and I still have plenty of room to move the seat more forward.

What I really like is the feeling of sitting up high. I have the liftback and it almost feels like I'm in an SUV sometimes. I have to step up a little to get into the seat.

I am also fairly short and like the Yaris HB for comfort over most other cars. The seating position is not as low to the floor as other economy size cars.

The price you are getting is pretty good but expect another $750 to $1000 in delivery charges, dealer prep, and so on that isn't listed there. Given that it already has some miles on it, you might try to negotiate for $12,500 or $12,750 including all the fees.

But don't let the miles bother you too much either. I found that my 3dr hatch got more comfortable and efficient at 50K, almost to the point of feeling like a second break in period.

I used that guide when I was buying my Yaris. Thanks to that site, I was able to avoid so much bogus fees and was able to get a really good price on my car.

to me that price sounds crazy for a car with that many miles. I agree you might be able to get a brand new car for that kind of money.

At 5'2", I find that my seat in the Yaris is decently spaced (10-12") away from the steering wheel, and I can easily reach the pedals (all 3) without a problem.

Now in my fiance's 2009 VW Jetta Sportwagen, I have to have the seat forward to the point that there's only 3-4" between my gut and the steering wheel. This is so I can push the clutch in properly on his car.

I own a HB, so I'm not sure if that's what makes the differences.

I know in my dad's 03 Tacoma, I have no problems driving without adjusting the seat if he's the last one to drive it (he's near 6'), but if my mom drove it last (5'), I have to move the seat back quite a bit.

I think the design of each vehicle makes a huge difference:
- low riding car with a seat that naturally leans backward (like the Jetta)
- high sitting truck and a seat that is relatively "level" (like the Tacoma)
- tall car with the seat position higher than most (like my HB)
- SUV with a seat that sits in the midrange (like our 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee)

Granted, this is all based on my experience, and not on any real research.

I'm 5 ft. and love my 3rd HB, the driver side set is up high. The car jack compartment is under the seat. I can see way over the steering wheel. I know one of these days I'm going to be one these little old lady looking thru the steering wheel instead of over it.

that 12,400 for a 5 dr really doesn't sound too bad. My 07 S is valued at 11,300 with close to 50k on it.
