the little wheel that controls the brightness of the display is located close to my left knee -- the first time the display went dark, it took a few momwnts to find the adjustment wheel -- now it is a routine annoyance

Keep the dimmer wheel, (left knee area of dash) all the way in the UP position.. You will feel it grab/lock in place.

Now even in the daytime, the gauge cluster will be MAX brightness... no adjustments ever needed after that.

The wheel only works for "night time" brightness. Daytime is always set to the max. I keep it in a dimemr location to remember to turn the lights on ;).

is it the WHEEL next to the Mirror Controller on the left? i'd try that, but it not even turn my odometer light on at all. i have to turn the parking light switch on to be able to turn it on.
